Phantom PMs

Every once in a while (maybe once a month or-so), I'll get an e-mail notification of a new PM. But when I check my inbox, there's nothing there. Has anyone else been getting phantom PM notifications?

Sometimes spambots send private messages. When we delete them, their private messages get deleted too. It just so happens that you got an email notification earlier just before the spambot was deleted.

So, that is the reason for disabling private messaging? I've got two new ones, but can't read them.

Yup, we had to disable private messaging for now because of spammers.

I got one too, although I'm not sure how because I seem to be unable to send any. Maybe it was just before they got disabled.

When logged in, click on Profile, and then for "Notify on new Private Message" select "No." It shouldn't be a problem anymore though, since PMs have been disabled entirely as Hai pointed out. Please let us know if you still receive new notifications about private messages from this point onward.
